Southern Cross Austereo have an opportunity open for an experienced and passionate Audio Journalist keen for their next step up the career ladder. We are one of Australia’s most dynamic entertainment-based media companies, with a culture of high performance.
This role is to ensure that the Melbourne newsroom runs smoothly in an operational capacity, as well as delivering on brand news updates for platforms including FM, DAB+ and Smart Speakers. Some weekend work is required as part of this role, which will suit candidates with a strong sport background.
The Melbourne News Operations person will liaise with the Melbourne News Editor and Head of News Operations on emerging technologies and be proactively looking for new approaches to systems and procedures within the news environment.
This is a sensational opportunity for a confident and motivated journalist who wants to further develop their career and is excited about providing our listeners with the most relevant, up to date news.
What we are looking for in you:
- An ability to produce accurate, punchy and creative news bulletins targeted to a specific demo
- A love of working in a both a solo and team environment
- Excellent knowledge of news and sport
- Minimum 6 years commercial radio experience, ideally full
- Confident, conversational reading style which suits our brands
- Commitment to work different shifts
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritise projects of differing timelines
- Thorough knowledge of news operations and systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- An active interest and demonstrated competency in digital news
