About the role:

We’re on the hunt for an experienced and passionate Journalist to join our incredibly talented News team based out of any of our 65 offices nationwide for a period of 4 months to cover a secondment. 

As our newest Journalist, you will be responsible for identifying, creating and delivering compelling news to our audience. The successful candidate will be genuinely excited about providing our listeners with the most relevant, up to date news on air and online.

Please note: This role will be required to cover sensitive and potentially emotionally challenging news events from a people, product, and rostering perspective.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • A degree qualification in Journalism, Communications or Media is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing and producing news stories - Journalism graduates are welcome to apply!
  • An ability to convey news information by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information.
  • Experience in delivering news on air or creating audio for an on demand/podcast environment is desirable, otherwise, a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in writing news for radio/ online platforms, or an eagerness to learn.
  • A working knowledge of chasing story contacts, best practice interview techniques, & audio editing is desirable.
  • An ability or interest in producing, writing and editing audio and visual content for digital channels.
  • Understanding of current and emerging web-based tools and content management systems.
